In class we were put in groups of 5 and was given a script from the film Finding Nemo. We filmed it outside by the road which wasn’t the best idea because the sound of the engine from the cars running and the wind blocked out all of the volume of our voices and can hardly hear us. Also when we tried to edit the film, we found another sound error. We noticed the volume of the film changes depending on where the character is, the volume of our voices changed. As we filmed this with different types of shots, the close up shots would be louder (as the character would be closer to the camera and mic) than the part that was filmed in long shots, which would be quieter and the wind would cover up the mic (as the character would be further away from the camera and mic).
Overall we, as a group we found that by filming outdoors, we have to organise very well with the time of filming because of reasons such as the weather, surroundings and the location as they can have a massive effect on the film. We also found that it is actually a lot harder than we thought it would be. To avoid these errors, we thought by using an external microphone would help reducing the noise in the background and surroundings, only focusing on the characters so we can hear their conversation.
