Social Class

My social class:

    


Stereotypes of different classes:

Working Class:
• selfish - attitude 
• abusive - attitude
• women are physically out of control. Fat, loud, overly sexual, and dressed in a "loud" inappropriate clothing - appearance
• chavs - appearance 
• unemployment - appearance
• racist - behaviour 
• violent e.g. Fighting, arguing - behaviour 
• commit domestic violence - behaviour 
• complete physical and unpleasant jobs - lifestyle 
• extreme fans of foot ball - lifestyle 
• school dropouts - lifestyle 
• alcoholics - lifestyle 
• females: usually starting a family at a young age (underage pregnancy, also single mum) - lifestyle 
• dependant on governments money - lifestyle 
• live in high, crime areas - living arrangements 
• violent dogs - possession 
• weapons (guns, knives) - possession 
• illegal substance (drugs) - possession 

Middle Class:
Middle class is one of the social group which is between the upper and the working class including professional and business people and their families. 
• financially stable family - lifestyle 
• able to go on vacations once a year - lifestyle 
• usually have some extra money on the side - lifestyle 
• works in a white collar industry jobs (office, doctors) - lifestyle 
• church goers (religious) - lifestyle 
• successful small business (Corner shops, self-employed) - lifestyle 
• chooses to work in a company/business that requires a degree - lifestyle 
• children are more likely to attend public schools - lifestyle 
• children may have piano lessons or do ballet 
• nuclear family - living arrangements 
• medium sized homes - living arrangements 
• family car - possession 

Upper Class:
• snobby - attitude
• quite arrogant - attitude
• well dressed (suits, waist coasts) - appearance
• well mannered - behaviour
• good temperament - behaviour
• well heeled - behaviour
• own businesses and live off the investments (family run) - lifestyle
• boarding schools and expensive university for children - lifestyle
• hunt and shoot - lifestyle
• mostly go out on vacations - lifestyle
• have their own clubs (closed society) - lifestyle
• own mansions in the country side - living arrangements
• have their own flats and houses in the cities or abroad - living arrangements
• live with parents usually - living arrangements
• own horses and a lot of dogs - possession
• have expensive cars e.g. 4X4's - possession
